Just a ten-minute drive from Villa Afroditi, the quaint village of Pogonia is home to two traditional tavernas and a welcoming kafeneio—the perfect place to savour regional produce and experience a little philoxenia, the Greek expression for warm hospitality. Continue for another ten minutes and you’ll reach Palairos, a lively coastal town with an abundance of bars, restaurants, cafés, bakeries and well-stocked supermarkets. History lovers will appreciate the nearby Mycenaean ruins of Ancient Palairos, offering a fascinating glimpse into Greece’s storied past, while a little farther along the coast, Mytikas awaits with its spectacular 4km beach and ferry service to Kalamos and Kastos.
