Casa al Colle in Tuscany

Nestled deep within the Garfagnana Mountains of northern Tuscany, Casa al Colle stands as a testament to the soul-stirring beauty and authentic Italian charm of the region. Surrounded by majestic gorges, lush forests, meandering rivers, and medieval villages, this remarkable villa captures the very essence of Tuscany’s poetic allure.

It’s a place that enchanted renowned poets like Byron and Shelley, and from the vantage point of Casa al Colle, one can easily understand the profound inspiration these natural wonders evoke.

The history of Casa al Colle is woven into the fabric of the Garfagnana Mountains, with parts of the villa dating back to 1761. Over the centuries, it has evolved into a warm and inviting summer home, perfect for large family gatherings or two families holidaying together. The villa’s spacious grounds, adorned with 300 ancient olive trees, offer a sense of seclusion and tranquility. Here, amidst nature’s splendor, guests can find solace and create cherished memories.

As you step into the grounds, you are welcomed by the sight of a sparkling swimming pool, complete with a convenient fridge for refreshing beverages. An outdoor dining area beckons, boasting a wood-fired pizza oven and a barbecue nearby, allowing guests to indulge in authentic Italian culinary delights under the open sky. An inner courtyard provides additional seating options, offering a unique experience of stargazing beneath the Tuscan night sky.

The generous panoramic balconies, adorned with breathtaking views, create the perfect ambiance for losing oneself in the pages of a good book or simply savoring the beauty of the surroundings.

Inside Casa al Colle, the ambiance is a blend of rustic charm and contemporary comfort. Heavy wooden beams adorn the ceilings, while light and comfortable interiors create an inviting atmosphere. The villa features three separate entrances, making it an ideal choice for multiple families holidaying together. A clever sliding partition on the ground floor allows for an additional sleeping space, equipped with a sofa bed, shower room, and TV – a perfect den for a teenager seeking a sense of independence.

Casa al Colle overlooks the 16th-century hamlet of San Romano, a charming village home to approximately 50 people. The villa’s owners, Thomas and Fiorella, who hail from Switzerland and Italy respectively, reside in the village and extend their warm hospitality to guests. They are dedicated to ensuring that every guest’s stay is as comfortable as possible. Fresh herbs, tomatoes, and vegetables from their garden are readily available for guests to enjoy, adding a touch of authenticity to the culinary experience.

Veronica, your English-speaking Property Manager, is also a resident of the village, along with her father Roberto, who takes care of the garden and swimming pool. The villa offers the services of a housekeeper and Maura, the talented cook, who can prepare legendary pizzas and a wide array of delectable Tuscan specialties. Maura is also more than willing to share her culinary expertise, teaching guests the art of making Italian pasta – a delightful and educational experience for food enthusiasts.

While Casa al Colle offers a wonderful sense of seclusion, guests are never isolated, thanks to the warm and hospitable company of the locals. For any necessities, several supermarkets are conveniently located just a 15-minute drive away, ensuring that guests have access to all essentials during their stay.

In essence, Casa al Colle is not just a villa; it’s a sanctuary where families come together, where laughter and shared moments echo through the halls, and where the beauty of nature becomes a backdrop for cherished memories. It’s a place where seclusion harmonizes with sociability, where authentic Italian hospitality enriches every experience, and where the heart of Tuscany beats in rhythm with the laughter of children and the shared joy of families.

Casa al Colle promises an unforgettable stay, an opportunity to immerse oneself in the true essence of Tuscany, and a chance to create memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.
