Situated on the hillside among the olive trees and overlooking the spectacularly blue Ionian Sea towards Albania, the breath-taking Villa Aphrodite has so much to offer. Accessed via a long private driveway and with beautifully maintained gardens, its idyllic location in the sleepy village of Agios Spyridonas in Corfu, complete with golden sandy beaches, charming tavernas and a mini-market within easy strolling distance, is just for starters.
With the accommodation housed in two wings, joined by an impressive glass conservatory-style living area, there’s great flexibility to cater for various family dynamics. Four classically styled bedrooms with oak flooring, lofty ceilings and French doors leading out onto a covered patio are located in the main wing, each with its own en suite bath or shower room. There’s also a games room here, with a television, Playstation console and cross-trainer to keep both youngsters and fitness fans happy.
At the far end of the house is a further spacious bedroom with a super king size bed, en suite shower room with twin basins, a separate living and dining room, fitted kitchen and utility room. It’s perfect for multi-generational families who like to enjoy a little space and privacy while still relishing their time together, or for those travelling with nannies.
At the heart of the house, the open plan living and kitchen area is flooded with light from its glass roof and floor-to-ceiling row of picture windows, ensuring that the breathtaking view of the sea and the misty mounds of the Albanian coastline is constantly visible. A blend of rustic timber and patterned tiles with beautifully upholstered linen sofas and chairs gives the space an air of relaxed chic, inviting guests to chill out over a movie or linger over a bottle of wine after supper. The modern kitchen is well fitted and includes a useful island unit that encourages sociable meal preparation, though the gas barbecue outside is likely to bear much of the load, as you would expect in this glorious Greek climate.
Stepping out onto the vast terrace, lined with stylish sun loungers and parasols, the villa’s stunning private infinity pool is the ultimate indulgence. A generous 12m by 4m, it even has a separate shallow section to splash around in and can be heated (at extra cost) on request should you wish.
The gardens have been thoughtfully planted with flourishing shrubs and perennials, enhanced by carefully placed traditional Grecian pots filled with vibrant petunias, bougainvillea and clematis.
