Portugal has a character that is very distinctive from its neighbour Spain and has a proud heritage of travel and exploration. Lisbon is an impressive and friendly capital, with its many 18th-century buildings along the Tagus River.
To the north of Lisbon, Porto has medieval cobbled streets and the stately houses of wealthy wine merchants. As in many places in Portugal the seafood is excellent, with freshly-grilled sardines a popular street food.
With its long coastline, Portugal is a popular seaside holiday destination. From the busy beaches of the Algarve in the south to the golden Atlantic Ocean sands near Lisbon, there are plenty of great options for beach relaxation.
The summer months of July and August get very hot and busy in Portugal so Spring and Autumn are often the best seasons to visit.
Portugal is a country in western Europe on the Iberian peninsula
Summer average of 28’C and winter average of 15’C.
